Regular Meeting - Kanabec County Ag Society Directors

April 19, 2010

The Kanabec County Agriculture Society directors and members held regular monthly meeting on April 19, 2010 at the Kanabec County Courthouse meeting room.  Present were directors, Marie Angstman, John Angstman, Larry Bryant, Larry Keene, Alicia Martens, Tom Strunge, Laura Roche, Mary Besser, Jennie Ringler, Kathi Ellis, Janet Martens.    Also present Gabrea Anderson 4-H County Coordinator.

      A quorum being present meeting called to order 8 pm by President John Angstman.

              Minutes of regular March 2010 meeting reviewed.  Janet made motion to accept minutes, Larry K. seconded motion.  Motion carried.   

            Secretary’s Report – Passed around lawn mowing & trimming bids for review.  North steps to grandstand need repair or replaced.  May have Kettle Korn back at this years fair.  Received contract for Kids Pedal Pull. 

            President’s Report  - Received contract with Track Patrol for Pickup Pull and Tractor Pull, same as last year $1500 for both.  John trimmed trees around barns and piled limbs, City of Mora will chip the limbs.

             5- County Mtg – Janet gave report on meeting held April 12th at Crystal Sports Bar & Grill.

           Lawn mowing Bids – 5 bids were reviewed and discussed.  Janet made motion to accept the bid proposed by Dave’s Lawn & Snow, Jennie seconded motion.  Motion carried.

 Treasurers Report – Kathi presented report, balance KSB $1,507.38, PNB $291.63. Bills to pay Crystal Sports Bar & Grill $216.63, Pedal Pull $250.00.  Marie made motion to approve report and authorize payment of outstanding bills, Larry K., seconded motion. Motion carried.   Kathi report that the Fishing Contest held at Bow’s Landing with MN Women Anglers and our share of fun raiser around $1,300.

            Official Vet – Larry B. to take care of contacting Vet.

             Premium Book – Janet presented draft and passed around for corrections to be made.

            Advertising – Proposal from Farm Bureau paper, and Agri News.  Suggested to accept Farm Bureau proposal.

              4-H– 4-H would like to install heating in the 4-H building so it could be used year around.  Bids for the installation range from $6500 to $8500.  Would like to use Natural Gas line if possible instead of propane tanks.  Marie made a motion to authorize the 4-H to pursue the project of installation of heaters, Mary seconded motion.  Motion carried.
