Regular Meeting - Kanabec County Ag Society Directors

The Kanabec County Agriculture Society directors and members held regular monthly meeting on May 19th at the Kanabec County Courthouse meeting room.  Present were directors, Larry Bryant, Marie Angstman, John Angstman, Janet Martens, Bevan Beck, and Cheryl Beck.  Gabrea Anderson of 4-H Extension office, and Leann Pietrzak of Mora FFA.

      A quorum being present meeting called to order 8 pm by President John Angstman.      

            Minutes of April meeting were reviewed.  Janet made a motion to approve minutes, Marie seconded motion.  Motion carried.

            Secretary’s Report – Ag Star grant approved for total of $2500.00 to cement sheep barn pens and add water lines to dairy barn.  Bevan made a motion to contract with Mike Osterdyke construction to do the cement work in sheep barn, Marie seconded motion. Motion carried.  Request from Stephanie Gregor to hold a Walk and Bike O-thon using the outdoor space on the fairgrounds on August 9th for fundraiser for Stop It Now Minnesota.  Decided to let them use fairgrounds without charge. 

 Treasurers Report – No report as Kathi not present.  Bevan made motion to authorize Kathi to pay any outstanding bills, Cheryl seconded motion.  Motion carried.  

            Presidents Report – Janet is working on volunteers for working as ticket and gate workers for the grandstand events.   

             Mora FFA -   Leann Pietrzak the Mora FFA school advisor has offered to get the FFA involved at the fair.  Looking into setting up a petting zoo that the FFA members could present during the fair.       

4-H – Gabrea reported that the beef barn would need 4 new electrical circuits add to support new fans being installed.  She stated she may have a volunteer that would donate the work.  She was told to coordinate with Jeff of Zaudke Electric to ensure code correct.
